Brisbane North Local History
Brisbane North, located in the state of Queensland in Australia, has a rich and diverse local history that spans thousands of years. Before European settlement, the area was inhabited by various Indigenous groups, including the Turrbal and Jagera peoples.
The Turrbal people, also known as the Duke of York tribe, are thought to have lived in the northern suburbs of Brisbane North, while the Jagera people, also known as the Coorparoo tribe, are thought to have lived in the southern suburbs.
